Paramedic Science Program

The paramedic is the highest level of prehospital care provider in the EMS system. The focus of this education is to increase the depth of knowledge gained as an EMT.


Program Requirements:

  • 12-18 month commitment
  • EMT certification
  • CPR certification for health care provider
  • Passing the entrance exam (details available upon request)
  • Completion of anatomy and physiology prerequisite course (details available upon request)

Attendance is MANDATORY for all applicants.

PROGRAM BASICS:

The Indianapolis EMS (IEMS) Paramedic Science Program in partnership with Eskenazi

Health, is a 52-week IN-PERSON program designed to present subject matter in a

section- or shift-accommodating manner to make attendance convenient for EMS and

fire department personnel. Classes are held from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Indianapolis EMS.


- Tuition, ID Badge and Respirator - $9,000

- Other costs - Approx. $2,000 (books, uniform, insurance, etc.)

* information on payment plans, employer invoicing and GI Bill benefits will be covered at the information sessions.

Sept. 1 - Nov. 12, 2026 - IEMS HQ Education

Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) Class*

This course will begin Tuesday, Sept. 1 or Thursday, Sept. 3. Attend class one day each week from 2 - 6 p.m. – choose the day that’s best for you. A & P class will end Nov. 12. Sign up for A & P by Aug. 7 here.


Oct. 16, 2026 - IEMS HQ Education

Entrance Examination*

Complete and pass the FISDAP entrance exam by this deadline. We will discuss exam

schedules during information sessions. 


Nov. 16 - Nov. 20, 2026 - IEMS HQ Education

Interviews

We will schedule you for a 30-minute interview with our faculty.


Dec. 15 or Dec. 17, 2026 - IEMS HQ Education

Mandatory Paramedic Program Orientation

Choose either Dec. 15 or Dec. 17. You only need to attend one of these days. 


Jan. 11 or 13, 2026 - IEMS HQ Education

Paramedic Class Begins


*Certain college-level English, math, and anatomy and physiology courses may exempt you from the entrance exam and/or IEMS anatomy and physiology prerequisite course. Details will be available at information sessions.*
