Paramedic Science Program
The paramedic is the highest level of prehospital care provider in the EMS system. The focus of this education is to increase the depth of knowledge gained as an EMT.
Program Requirements:
- 12-18 month commitment
- EMT certification
- CPR certification for health care provider
- Passing the entrance exam (details available upon request)
- Completion of anatomy and physiology prerequisite course (details available upon request)

PROGRAM BASICS:
The Indianapolis EMS (IEMS) Paramedic Science Program in partnership with Eskenazi
Health, is a 52-week IN-PERSON program designed to present subject matter in a
section- or shift-accommodating manner to make attendance convenient for EMS and
fire department personnel. Classes are held from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Indianapolis EMS.
Tuition, ID Badge and Respirator - $9,000
Other Costs - Approx. $2,000 (books, uniform, insurance, etc.)
*information on payment plans, employer invoicing and GI Bill benefits will be covered at the information sessions.

A&P Class*
Class begins April 14 or April 16. Attend one day each week from 2 - 6 p.m. You choose the day that's best for you! Class ends July 2.

Entrance Examination*
Complete and pass the FISDAP entrance exam by this deadline. We will discuss exam
schedules during information sessions.
June 22-26, 2026 - IEMS HQ
Interviews
We will schedule you for an interview with our faculty.
July 21 or 23, 2025 - IEMS Conference Center
Mandatory Paramedic Program Orientation
Choose either July 21 or July 23. You only need to attend one of these days. Orientation will take place at the IEMS Conference Center, 3976 Georgetown Rd.
Aug. 17 or Aug. 19, 2026 - IEMS Conference Center
Paramedic Science Course Begins
*Certain college-level English, math, and anatomy and physiology courses may exempt you from the entrance exam and/or IEMS anatomy and physiology prerequisite course. Details will be available at information sessions.*
